Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about creating slowed + reverb videos
Why do I get a Storage Quota Exceeded error?
This happens when your browser runs out of storage space while rendering the video. The browser uses temporary storage to process video frames.
Solutions:
- Shorten your video using the crop feature in Advanced Settings
- Disable overlay effects (grain, sparkles) in the Video tab
- Clear your browser data: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
- Try using a different browser (Chrome usually has more available storage)
- Close other tabs and applications to free up memory
What audio formats are supported?
SlowedGenerator supports most common audio formats including:
- MP3 (.mp3)
- WAV (.wav)
- M4A (.m4a)
- OGG (.ogg)
- FLAC (.flac)
For best quality, we recommend using WAV or FLAC files. The maximum file size is 100MB.
What image formats are supported?
You can use any common image format:
- JPEG/JPG (.jpg, .jpeg)
- PNG (.png) - supports transparency
- WebP (.webp)
- GIF (.gif)
Images are automatically resized to 1920x1080 for the video. For best results, use high-resolution images (at least 1920x1080).
Why does Firefox export WebM instead of MP4?
Firefox does not support AAC audio encoding in the browser, which is required for MP4 videos. Instead, SlowedGenerator automatically exports as WebM format (VP8 video + Opus audio) when you use Firefox.
Good news: WebM is fully supported by YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and most social media platforms. The quality is identical to MP4.
What do the advanced audio settings do?
Speed (0.25x - 2.0x)
Controls playback speed. Below 1.0 slows down, above 1.0 speeds up. Classic slowed + reverb uses 0.7-0.8x.
Reverb (0-100%)
Adds echo and spaciousness. Higher values create more atmospheric sound. Works together with Location/Space.
Location/Space
Applies realistic acoustic environments using impulse responses. Simulates how audio would sound in cathedrals, concert halls, or small rooms. The Reverb slider controls the wet/dry mix when a location is selected.
Pitch (-12 to +12 semitones)
Shifts pitch up or down. Negative values create deeper sound, positive values make it higher.
Bass Boost (0-100%)
Enhances low frequencies for deeper, fuller sound. Pairs well with slowed audio.
Volume (0-200%)
Adjusts output volume. Can boost quiet audio or reduce loud audio. Values above 100% may cause distortion.
How does the crop feature work?
The crop feature lets you select a specific portion of your audio to include in the video, instead of using the entire song.
How to use it:
- Upload your audio file
- Open Advanced Settings → Audio tab
- Use the Crop Start and Crop End sliders to select your desired segment
- Generate preview to hear your selection
This is useful for creating shorter videos, avoiding intros/outros, or focusing on a specific part of a song.
How long does rendering take?
Rendering happens entirely in your browser and depends on several factors:
- Video length: 1-2 minutes per minute of video on average devices
- Device performance: Faster on newer computers with better CPUs
- Overlays: Adding grain or sparkles increases render time by 30-50%
- Browser: Chrome and Edge are typically fastest
Typical render times: 3-minute video = 3-6 minutes of rendering
What are overlay effects?
No Overlay (Default)
Clean video without any overlay effect. Fastest rendering, lowest storage usage.
Film Grain
Adds vintage film grain texture for a retro, nostalgic aesthetic. Popular for lofi/vaporwave styles.
Sparkles
Glittery sparkle particles that create a dreamy, magical effect. Great for ethereal/ambient music.
Note: Overlays increase render time and storage usage. If you encounter quota errors, try disabling overlays.
What do the effect presets do?
Classic Slowed + Reverb
The iconic sound: 0.8x speed, moderate reverb, church acoustics. Perfect for chill vibes.
Deep Slowed
Extra slow (0.65x) with heavy reverb and bass. Maximum depth and atmosphere.
Dreamy Reverb
High reverb (85%) in an ancient chamber. Ethereal and atmospheric.
Nightcore
Faster tempo (1.25x) with higher pitch. Energetic and upbeat.
Daycore
Slower with lower pitch (0.7x, -3 semitones). Relaxed and mellow.
Ultra Slowed
Extremely slow (0.5x) with deep bass. Dramatic effect.
What is the video quality?
All videos are rendered at:
- Resolution: 1920x1080 (Full HD)
- Frame rate: 30 FPS
- Video codec: H.264 (MP4) or VP8 (WebM for Firefox)
- Audio codec: AAC (MP4) or Opus (WebM)
- Audio bitrate: High quality (256kbps+)
This quality is optimized for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms.
Is my data private?
Yes, absolutely. SlowedGenerator processes everything locally in your browser:
- Your audio and images never leave your device
- No files are uploaded to any server
- All processing happens on your computer
- Settings are saved locally in your browser storage
When you close the browser, temporary files are automatically cleared. Your original files remain untouched.
Can I download just the audio?
Yes! After generating a preview, you will see a Download Audio button that lets you download the processed audio as a WAV file without rendering the video. This is faster and useful if you only need the audio.
